Wonderful end to a great three weeks of HITS shows in beautiful Ocala. Congratulations to all!
Oriental K and Carlos finished Champion this week and ended up Reserve Champion for the HITS circuit in the level 4! Dream Catcher and Carlos got two 8ths, 5th. Maren 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th. Chances are and Carlos two 3rds. Brie 4th, 5th. Sophy 7th.
Many thanks to our fabulous students and parents that came to show with us, we had so much fun and learned a lot. We enjoyed ms. Lauren's company on the weekend :) Hope to have everyone back again next year!

We enjoyed a very nice week of showing with some good ribbons. Oriental K was reserve champion for the week, Dream Catcher had some 4ths and 5ths, Brie and Sophy had 6ths.

We also had a nice visit with Rona and Kent, as well as a very interesting auction Sunday after the grand prix, and the hunter prix Saturday night.

The girls are here! Sophy, Maren & family and Caitie & family. Still missing ms. Brie and ms. Lauren.. one more week!
Good day today, Oriental K won level 4 jumpers - she was 3rd Wednesday, Dream Catcher was 7th - 6th yesterday, and Mr. Fandango had a couple of rails but had a good round.
The rest of the ponies are doing well, working out daily and getting ready for the next couple of weeks.
Weather has been very nice, a bit windy at times. Blankies overnight.

Sunday Feb. 27 - After a long 10+ hours we finally arrived to sunny Ocala to perfect warm weather unlike previous years' frost and chilly weather.

The horses are getting adjusted and seem very happy. Today -March 2- was our first show day with DC in the level 0, Oriental K in level 4 and Fandango levels 3 & 4.

Greensboro Hunter Jumper Classic (Sept 2-4)

This weekend we went to the greensboro "A" show. We took Oriental K, Fandango, and DC (Dream Catcher). The horses were pretty good. DC schooled well, he did not show but Maren decided to take him for the practice. Oriental and Fandango did the 1.20m. Oriental was 4th and Fandango was 3rd. Oriental was also 5th in the 1.30m. They both jumped really well.
We would like to welcome Rodolfo to the Aramburo Equestrian and Vixen Trail Farm family! He came with us to the show and did a great job helping us. The horses love him.

Sedgefield August 2010

It was a good weekend at the Greensboro Horse Show. The weather was pretty nice. Very hot and it rained only a little on saturday. Our riders and horses did really well. Stan rode Lucy in the Long Stirrup Hunter and did awesome! It was only his second show! Carlos showed Nighthawk in the 2'6" Special Hunter and was champion and reserve. Nighthawk just keeps getting better. It was Lauren's first show with Aramburo Equestrian and we are so happy to have her with us! She and her horse Haley did really well in the Children Hunter. It was a great weekend hanging out with our little group. On saturday, everyone went out to Four Winds to have dinner with Peggy. The food was delicious!

BLOWING ROCK 2010

We finally made it to the Blowing Rock horse show and it was a blast. Of course we had crazy Blowing Rock weather but it was well worth it. The horses were great and riders were awesome. We started out the first week with Fandango and Carlos, Chuck and Abby, Wilson and Sandy, and Oriental and Carlos, and Roy and Elizabeth on the weekend. They all did really well even in the dense fog! Fandango did the 1.05m and 1.30m classes. Chuck and Abby did the Children Hunters and a couple medal classes. Wilson did the 3' pre-green hunters with Carlos and the Adult Hunters with Sandy. On the weekend, Oriental did the 1.30 class and the 1.30m Russell Hall Memorial Speed class. Last but not least, Roy and Elizabeth did the Short Stirrup Hunters.
At the end of the first week we got all dressed up and went to the Blowing Rock Gala. It was a night of food, conversation, and dancing. So much fun!
The second week's weather wasn't as foggy and the horses were even better. Fandango and Carlos won the 1.05m class and ended up 9th in the 1.35m L.P. Tate Jumper Classic! Oriental and Sophy were 6th in the 1.05m class and 6th in the L.P Tate Jumper Classic with Carlos! Abby and Chuck did the Children Hunter division and were really good as well as Elizabeth and Roy in the Short Stirrup Hunters.
Overall it was a successful two weeks. We all had tons of fun hanging out and catching up with friends. Cant wait for next year!

It turned out to be a very wet and rainy weekend at the Greensboro Horse Show. On friday, poor Abby and Chuck had to school in the storm. Saturday wasn't much better. It rained on and off the whole day and the show had to be put on hold about three times because of lightning! Crazy weather...but although the weather was bad, the horses were really good. Joe Cool did really well for Carlos and Cait. We took Fandango to the show to practice a little before going to Blowing Rock and he was a superstar. Abby went to the show to try Chuck to see if she would be able to take him to Blowing Rock since her horse, Wiley, is hurt. Anyway, sunday was a much prettier and sunny day. The horses were even better and Abby decided to definitely take Chuck to Blowing Rock. So, overall it was a really good weekend.

Fun weekend enjoying tons of great music and hanging out with "rock stars".
We had a great time on Friday night at George Hartner's fundraising concert at the Soapbox in memory of Alex Hartner. Accompanying him on stage were Colleen Hart, Jim Middleton and Madison Bunting.

Beautiful weather in our last week in Florida! The rain came back on Sunday morning for the Grand Prix and by afternoon it was back to warm and nice! Horsies and doggies were ready to get back home as were some of us?...
We all enjoyed our three weeks in FL and everyone did very well. This week Sophy and Oriental showed in the Adult Jumper High and got a 7th place. Maren and DC got a 5th and 6th in the 2'6" Adult Hunters, Carlos and DC got 4th place in the Schooling Hunters and 8th in the Hits Hunters at 2'6". Carlos and Fandango got a 3rd in the Level 3 and did very well in the Level 5 with unfortunate single rails in every class keeping them out of the ribbons. Carlos and Oriental got a 4th and a 6th in the $1000 Level 5 Jumpers.

After ALL the rain and two days of competition lost, everyone was glad to be out and back in the show ring.
Carlos with Oriental and Fandango showed first thing in the Grand Prix field, they jumped around very well but both had one unlucky rail. Sophy and Oriental showed in the High Adult Jumpers and had the last rail down.
Carlos and Maren showed Dream Catcher in the HITS 2'6" Hunters and did very well.
Saturday night we got to watch the $10,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby, it was a bit cold and breezy but what a nice class. Sunday morning Sophy went back to Wilmington for a few days of class and in the afternoon we watched the $50,000 Purina Mills Grand Prix.
We're ready for our last week in Ocala!

Nice start of the week, much warmer weather than last week - tank top weather!
On Wednesday DC and Carlos showed in the Baby Greens, did very well. Fandango and Oriental showed in the Level 5 in the Grand Prix field, Ori was first in the order and set the pace with a double clean fast round but ended up 7th after 40 plus horses gave it a shot. Fandango got a bit frazzled :( in the big field.
Thursday and Friday we had to scratch because it rained and thundered the entire two days. We've had some time to visit tack shops and update the blog and flickr - will try to keep updating as much as I can!

Very busy week after a delayed departure from Wilmington to Ocala due to "vehicle malfunction". We arrived on Wednesday March 3, did the setup and schooling on Thursday and showed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
BEAUTIFUL weather!! a bit cold still overnight for Florida but daytime sunshine and warmth! Sophy got here on Thursday, and Maren & parentals on Friday.
Fandango and Ori showed in the level 4: Fandango got 2nd and 3rd, and Ori 3rd. Sophy showed in the Adult Jumper High, 4th place. DC showed in the HITS 2'6" Hunter with Carlos and Maren. Huge classes as always! Miss Nelly and Danny got their workout as well.
We are enjoying the facilities at Sandra Gray's barn where we're stabled across from the showgrounds. There's a nice riding ring (with a liverpool - perfect for Fandango:) and we have our own private turnout paddock.

Once again we found ourselves snowed in at a horse show! It snowed Friday afternoon thru the night - so no showing on Saturday. By Sunday the snow had melted and it was all back to normal. Good practice show for Ocala, hoping better weather!

RALEIGH INDOOR WINTER I

Interesting horse show week, it started out cold but at least dry on Wednesday and Thursday, by Friday however it started snowing and didn't stop until Saturday night. Most people left the show on Friday... we stayed :-o
It turned out fine though, just a little cold and after some inconveniences (mainly due to frozen water pipes) we all had a good time and got to play in the snow. Horses had warm beet pulp, heat lamps and many layers of clothing. The dogs didn't want to leave the camper.
We had Danny "Brulée" and Paige Wilson with Linus "Hidden Springs Linus". Paige and Linus won both the USEF and WIHS Pony Medals, and Reserve Champion in the Large Pony Hunters. This was Danny's first show with us so she mainly went for schooling. Carlos showed her in the Open Hunter and she had two 2nds and a 3rd.

AIKEN WINTER CLASSIC II

Wonderful start of the 2010 show year!
The nasty wet weather on Saturday and Sunday didn't dampen the spirits. The horses were great! On Friday Oriental K won the $5,000 Welcome Stake and Fandango was 8th. On Sunday's $10,000 Mini Prix Fandango was double clean and came in 2nd, Ori had one rail and ended up 6th. Dream Catcher did very well in his first A show, he showed in the Baby Greens with Carlos and the Pre-Adults with Maren, they got some nice ribbons 2nds, 3rds, 5th, 6ths, 7th. Sophy showed Ori in the Adult Jumpers only on Saturday, saving her for Sunday's Mini Prix. They got a 3rd and 4th.
Looking forward to Aiken again in February, Valentine's weekend!

Nice small show, everyone did awesome although the weather was a bit awful especially on Saturday. We enjoyed the company of Sue and Caitie, Elizabeth Wilson and the girls and Dale Wright and girls; had dinner every night at around 6 pm :-) which is kind of rare at horse shows. Caitie and Pilot won the Low Child/Adult Jumper Stake. Pony girls Jordan and Paige did very well, Paige and Linus were champion in the Large Pony Hunter, Jordan and Linus placed 2nd in the USEF Pony Medal, Paige and Pretty won the NCHJA Pony Medal. Sophy and Ori were champion in the Adult Jumpers. Carlos and Fandango were champion in the 1.25m Jumpers.

Beautiful weekend and super fun show! Oriental K was amazingly fast and careful winning first place in the $5,000 Mini Prix. Fandango did awesome as well but ran out of steam in the very large jumping field and had a couple of rails. Wilson was a very good boy with two nice rounds in the 3' Hunter classic; scoring a great 80 in his first round, coming back to the 2nd round a bit slow poke not stretching up enough finishing 9th overall. I think the two marshmallow boys are going to have to get in shape and learn from the oreo girl! :-)

Very good and fun weekend with lots of ribbons for the last show of the year in Greensboro. Congratulations to everyone, especially Sandy Hopper and Wilson for winning the Reserve Champion Sedgefield year end award in the Adult Hunters and to Carlos and Wilson for winning Champion year end in the Schooling Hunters.

Carlos and Wilson won Champion in the Schooling Hunters both Saturday and Sunday, and Ashley Moore was Reserve champion in the Adult Hunters. Lindsey and Ace went super fast in the jumpers and won some blues and more ribbons as well as Erinn and Carlos with Apogee, Maren and Carlos with Dream Catcher and Carlos with Nighthawk.

Our second week in Raleigh was a bit damp... cold and rainy during the week but it cleared for the weekend. The warm-up area was muddy so preparing Fandango and Oriental K for their jumper classes during the week was a bit difficult. Sophy and Oriental won Champion in the Adult Jumpers, Abby and Asprey placed in all of their classes pinning 2nd in one over fences and the under saddle. Carlos and Asprey won some ribbons in the Pre-Greens.

We enjoyed beautiful weather the entire week. Oriental K and Carlos did very well in the 1.30 m Jumpers and so did Sophy, Fandango, and Abby with Asprey. We enjoyed Libby and Brittany coming for a visit and nice dinner on Wednesday and Sarah Lowe for lunch on Thursday... excited about the new saddle!

We had a very good show in spite of the freezing cold windy weather... it was COLD! Good thing it was a small show so it ended pretty early both days. Carlos rode all the horses and won Champion in the Open Hunter division on Cast Away:
Cast Away / Sandy Hopper - Adult Amateur Hunter / ribbons and won the Warm up on Sunday
Ollie Bombay / Kristen Conant - Children Hunter / ribbons and Reserve Champion
Time will tell / Cindy Burnett - Pre-Adult Hunter / Reserve Champion
Dream Catcher / Maren Londahl-Smidt / ribbons. This was DC's first horse show so he only showed in the hack classes and behaved extremely well. Didn't mind the activity or very windy conditions.
As always thanks to Maren's parents for the food and goodies. We got to hang out with the Overbys and Old homestead Farm crowd who had a ton of food so we ate a lot!

Very nice weekend for a horse show! Small group but lots of ribbons. Ace of Hearts and Lindsey Jacks won a few classes and placed in others. He is a talented horse that does it all, he was a happy horse as Jane grazed him a lot throughout the weekend.

Cast Away won some ribbons and Carlos was Champion in the Schooling Hunters on Sunday, and Sandy Hopper was Reserve Champion in the Adult Hunters on Saturday.

We did the usual Elizabeth's pizza and mexican across the street and enjoyed a large crowd Saturday night UFC fight night at Buffalo Wild Wings with Dale Wright.

Jane and George Hartner, parents of Alex, held a benefit show last October in North Carolina where they now live and Alex graduated from high school. The horse show raised over $40,000 which was awarded at the Banquet to the scholarships in Alex’s name for kids at her high school (Topsail High) and college (St. Andrews Presbyterian) where she was a member of the equestrian team.
